Name: CCA Take a Kid Fishing Tournament

Event Description:
Fishing, trophies, food and more await anglers up to age 17 at the 34th annual Coastal Conservation Association’s (CCA) Take a Kid Fishing Tournament Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1. All kids will receive free rods and reels after registering. A free shrimp boil also is scheduled for all registered anglers. Family members and friends are invited to enjoy the shrimp boil as well, for $10 per person.
 

Fishing may begin at first light on Saturday. Kids may fish from anywhere; no boat is necessary.

 Woody’s Sports Center, 136 W. Cotter Ave., on Friday

Registration will begin Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Woody’s Sports Center
Fishing may begin at first light on Saturday
The weigh-in will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Woody’s Sports Center, where trophies donated by the Port Aransas Boatmen will be presented.

Fees/Admission:
The Cost is $10 dollars per participant. A free shrimp boil also is scheduled for all registered anglers. Family members and friends are invited to enjoy the shrimp boil as well, for $10 per person. June 1 is free fishing day so no fishing liscense is required.
 

In addition, the registration fee includes membership to CCA, a year’s subscription to CCA’s Rising Tide magazine and an entry in the State of Texas Anglers’ Rodeo (STAR) tournament.Children must be at least six years old and no more than 17 on the day of registration to be eligible to fish in the STAR tournament. Children younger than six will still be registered for a CCA membership.Contestants in the STAR tournament compete for more than $1 million in prizes and scholarships.
